State Representative Dave Vella Allocates $50,000 to Rockford Navy Club Ship #1 and Presents a Certified Illinois State Flag

ROCKFORD, IL. — State Representative Dave Vella (IL-68th) and his office are ecstatic to have successfully allocated $50,000 to the Rockford Navy Club Ship #1. The Navy Club, which has served area Navy veterans and their families for over 100 years, through these funds is now able to remodel and modernize its kitchen. This remodel provides for expanding its ability to better serve our veterans, their families. friends, and the Rockford Region. State Rep. Dave Vella is proud to invest new life into a timeless and treasured Rockford establishment.

To further celebrate and honor the relationship and impact the Navy Club Ship #1 has given to our community, State Rep. Dave Vella proudly presents them with a certified Illinois State flag. This flag has flown above the Illinois State Capitol complex, and is given to the Navy Club to honor the service and dedication it has given to 68th district and surrounding veterans for over a century. Speaking on both the allocation and the presentation of the flag, State Rep. Dave Vella said; “The Navy Club Ship #1 is a major piece of both 68th District and Rockford history. Being the first in the nation, it is a place that deserves our reverence and dedication. I hope that this allocation will help keep the Navy Club Ship #1 the premier location for Navy veterans and their family to enjoy a sense of community and well-deserved respect for their service.” Navy Club Ship #1 Commander Bob LaMay commented on the event; “It is with great gratitude that I commend Mr. Vella an astute Illinois State Representative in our 68th district for recognizing the importance of Rockford Navy Club Ship #1.
